This pack is designed to be helpful for front line staff working with children with learning disabilities who have Encopresis, toilet refusal or the need for bowel training. We hope that this pack will also be helpful for parents.

It is important to note that this pack has been developed for use by trained professionals such as School Health Advisors. The reason for developing this pack was to combine information and resources from what we know about encopresis and constipation for normally developing children, communication with children with learning disability and communication with parents. These are key issues relevant to working effectively with children with a learning disability and the aim of this manual is to bring these elements together.
